How we check the businesses in HVAC

Most directories list whoever pays them. We build listings from public research first, then check the things a homeowner would want checked — and we say plainly when we could not confirm something.

• Licence. Virginia contractors are licensed by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Where we have matched a business to its DPOR record, the licence number is shown on its listing. Where we have not, we leave it blank rather than implying one exists — a blank means "not matched," never "unlicensed." You can check any number yourself atDPOR's public licence lookup.
• Address and phone. Taken from an official record where one exists, not guessed from a city name. If we could not confirm an address, the listing does not show one.
• Ratings. Shown as an approximate figure from public research at a point in time, marked with a ~. We do not present them as live, and we do not publish a star rating we cannot source.
• Years in business. Calculated from the business's own initial licence certification date where we have it, not from a claim on a website.

We are a directory and booking service, not a contractor. You contact the business directly and deal with them directly. If a listing here is yours, you can claim it free and control what it says.
